NOT MISSING YOU
A text-sound piece for 1-4 Voices and Fixed Media with Audio-Visual Graphic Score.
Not Missing You was written for my son and husband. It describes my overwhelming love for them and the joy they bring to me, whilst expressing the heartache of missing them when they are not around be it now or in the future.
I created a text-based composition from the poem using sound transformations and word-painting with just my voice. The visuals are an expression of that emotion whilst serving as a graphic score for the piece to be performed live by one vocalist with the soundtrack and optional additional backing voices. In the graphic video score the main vocal part is shown below the 5 curved lines, whilst the backing vocals are shown above the lines. Timings shown at the bottom of the screen and counter top right. Performance requirements - video playback and mic for performer (s) with reverb. The piece can also be performed as an acousmatic piece and audio-visual work.
